Day 13 - Sept. 21 Padrón to Santiago

28 kms today
Long walk into Santiago today.

Rainy day so had to keep putting on the rain gear.

Stopped in a little chapel along the way.

Standing in front of the Cathederal which is still under repair.

We reached our destination.

Day 12 - Sept. 20 Caldas de Reis to Padrón

20 kms
Lots of farms along the way. We saw many corn fields.

The gang at km market 36.

More grapes.

We are staying in a town called Padrón tonight. Padrón is said to be the town where Saint James began his preaching in Spain. It is also where a boat carrying his body was found and his body was later brought to Santiago. In this church pictured below there is a "padron" or stone pedestal where the boat was found.

Day 11 - Sept. 19 Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis

22 kms
Left at 7:00 am and walked across this bridge.
Stoped to check out this cemetery along the way.

We had to walk along the road for awhile today. Sometimes there was not much room for us.

Lots of ups today. Just when you think you can't go any higher you turn the bend and go up again.

Walked through this grape vineyard. The smell was delicious.

Day 10 Sept. 18 - Redondela to Pontevedra

24 kms
A little rainy off and on today. We soon came to a marker that said 81.7 kms to Santiago.

Lots of ups and downs today. Every time I thought we could not go any higher we turned a corner and went up again. The good news is what goes up must come down and I like coming down.

Lots of traffic and narrow roads today.

Was it hot or was it cold?

A little stop along the way.

We walked out of Vigo today. We began at sea level and walked up, up, up and out.  Near the top of our climb we crossed a bridge and continued up some more.

From the high vantage point we had beautiful views of the area we just left.

Also beautiful views of the cove and area where we were headed.

There were many cyclist along our route. They go very fast down hill but no so fast up hill. Many had to get off and push their bikes.
